this is some of the external braces i made today. they are not on yet. so im sure some of u wont see what i am doing with them.
i was going to try and make it with the door panels on but i had already taken off the handles because the box was touching the sides so ill have to put the panels some place in storage so i can make the other braces fit.

i will say that sheet of advantech with that aluminum is STRONG! i can't really see it flexing and it might be over kill but i am going to put 3 sheets of 4 oz cloth fiberglass just to be sure. i have to make this part strong because it is on the roof and i don't have room to make any external braces

ill keep them coming if i have people keep looking.

i think i should start a poll to see who thinks i will get to my goal of 160 dbs. cause i dont' think anyone thinks i will get that. i have had two very smart dudes that have been into car audio for many years say a maybe and the other one thinks i can or will get close.

i am almost done with this years physics class and after going over sound, waves and all that its almost just luck if u get a good number with all of the factors and things changing.

its all for burps

i am thinking?hoping with my seat up it will drop the tuning lower because it leans back into the port

ill check tomo and see if nick V tells me what he thinks would work better. i know i post with a bighead that i don't need any help but i would love for any tips that could get me louder , with out talking to some audio freaks in my area i would end up with something a lot short of this

I would have made the external bracing different. Also the design itself looks a little strange. Make sure you get alot of threaded rod for bracing the inside.

i would have used 1in threaded rod or built a steel cage for the enclosure. if it was an option. but threaded rod is imo the best way to brace a box. i use 1in. i dunno how it would do in your application, as i dunno whats really going on here yet. and also internal angles can play a big part into what your ride will do. and also deading and sealing up the doors and roof may help as well

There are a lot of ppl who spent years of their time and tons more $$ than you just trying to get to 150. The difference between 150 and 160 is gigamungous! <<<<Not really a word, don't give a sh1t.

If you keep building new boxes to hit a 160... Once you finally do get 160 whats the point of getting a 160? What will you get out of it... a trophy maybe? All that wasted time and money, not to mention destroying your car, for a trophy. Thats really worth it...

have you seen other cars that are doing 160+? and looked at what they did as far as making a unibox/car? Or are you just winging it?

Three cars that Ive seen that are 165+ have very diffrent box builds. But GL.

Also, you may want to put aside a few bucks for suspension upgrades.

Is that a single layer of ply? with bracing? You will need at least 3 layers to get the stiffness thats needed imo.

theres a car that does 160+ and he has many sheets of that stuff in his car

i am getting help from 2 guys. one has done a few walls. i know he got a 166 in hte late 90s in a chevy love (more power than what i have) and he did a van but idk what he hit.
its single layer advantech in many places. 4 layers on the front baffel. all will have fiberglass 4 oz over it at least one layer. and every place will have braces

a lot of people say i need thicker wood, but if the peices i have do not resonate at a low Hz then i have nothing to worry about. the only part i am worrying about now is the top. i think its the strongest but i also think it has the lowest resonance.

from the guys i that have seen my build they say it is strong enough. one of them says some places is overkill. i will still have a lot of internal bracing so don't freak out yet!

i really do not think any of my fiberglassing or braces are over kill. i think a metal cage would be awsome. but then again its a DD. ..

the 152 i was not an spl port. it was 40 or 38 Hz for daily. i hope i am not hurting anything by having the port over to the side other than front but i was told it works better in most cases that way.

and the guy that told me some of my braces were over kill??? u can't say he doesn't know anything or that he is stupid. he has built many boxes in the 150s that are only single layer mdf.

i don't mean to say anything bad about uguys but some of u i dont know. so some of u might not know anything. others on this forum prolly know a lot more than me. but the guys i have been getting tips from i know for sure have there facts straight

LOL^ bro, im prolly the 2nd or 3rd loudest on this forum, thats a 157.6 at the headrest... thats 2 sundown nightshade 18's makes ur subs look puny. 4 AB500.1's thats over 20k on a 14 volt system you have 4 "regular" subs on 4,000 total and gonna beat my score? we are just trying to help you man... your wall is very "typical" for a wall... i forsee(spelling) box flex which hurts ur TL score... btw that 166 if more than likely on the AC mic which means nothing...

too many paintballs to the head. lol. i kinda hope you get it( but you wont), I really want to see snow eat shiit! lol j/k
There are too many spl freaks telling you the same thing... Might wanna rethink a few things... MORE POWER, Significant Sub upgrades. More Batts..... for starters. Hunters 3-HW's barley hit the 160 mark with 2- hw9.0's (IIRC)... Nick Walters gets 62's with 4-HW's on the same amps as hunters at 16V and ~.32 ohms strapped. again if I got the specifics wrong I apoligize. I am old and have burnt a few brain cells.
What would be your next move if you only get mid 50's? I mean ya can't stop there.. can ya?

all i really NEED is 155.9 or higher

i called and ask about the 166.3 love! it was not in the 90s. i guess it was not as long ago as i thought. and it was on the new termlab. i think after i get this done i am going to make a new thread just for guessing my score because its going to be hard to look at what every one guessed

let him have his laugh. I give him a hard enough time.. As do a lot of us... He does invite the abuse though. I am an easy going guy and can understand that he is obviously trying do the insult thing.. I deserve it sometimes. If there was ever any doubt that he wasn't kidding or lashing out, then it would be different. BUT... it really wasn't funny and NEVER tell a man that in person.... That is right on the same boundry and is about as funny as your twin tower "FAIL" pic. Just so you know.

yeah i agree....its OK to talk, discuss, look at any woman over the age 0f 18...BUT never talk about a woman, especially someones daughter like that. a sh.ithole will be stomped in you 99.9% of the time. its never funny and you look like a creep
