Hello guys, I am new to the forums and am learning so much everyday by reading them. I am good with wood, but am lacking in the design department part. I found a progran that everyone says is good and have no clue how to use it. I will include as much info that I have. here goes. right now the subs are in those crappy prefabed ported boxes you buy at the local stereo shops in the area. I have been told that the boxes they are in are not good and they can be way better. Well here goes.
36 inches wide
40 inches deep
24 inches tall
The subs are MTX 7500's. I have 6 of them. They are 4 ohm wired to 2 ohm. I have 3 MTX 81001's. 2 subs wired to each amp. They are getting about 900 watts rms?
I can build any box as long as I have the designs to see from. Well guys I want to thank you for all your help.

What vehicle?

I used to carry MTX, and the 7500's have some potential.

36 inches wide = 34.5 =30.5
40 inches deep = 38.5 =34.5
24 inches tall = 22.5 =22.5

= 13.7 cu ft before sub and port displacment

I am just minimizing as i go. What do you guys think of for port area? Carstereo.com isnt letting me load it.

those numbers mean that you cant slap a box together, measure is, and say thats the volume enclosure your subs are in.

you have to remember to subtract the thickness of the wood from each side.

i.e. if you have a 36" wide box, and you constructed the box with 3/4" wood, you would have to subtract 3/4" from each side, because the sides of the box make the box....not 36" wide?

6 12s won't fit in 24"x36", so you cant fire them back with those specs.

If you fire the subs up you could get it to work if you stagger the subs and fire the port back.

What i would try and do is run 3 rows of paired subs up each with its own port in the middle firing up.

It would be like this if your looking down on your box...

0 [] 0
0 [] 0
0 [] 0

that's how they are right now. I know I will have to fire them up. the 3 boxes are just like shown. I was reading that the preffabed boxes are jumk and that by building a box it will hit harder and be better for the subs.

Why only 36" wide?
You can easily fit 49" wide boxes in suburbans.

Outside dimensions

48 wide
37 deep
15 tall

Inside dimensions

46.5 wide
35.5 deep
13.5 tall
= 12.896 cu ft
- .54 cu ft sub displacment
= 12.356 cu ft

For port you could use 4 6" aero ports at 13.2 inches long

why only 15 tall, why not use the full space available? I am just wondering. thank you

Your subs only need 12 cu ft after displacment. You dont need to use the max dimensions, your box would be way bigger then it needs to be. And you also run a higher risk of damaging your subs by bottoming them out, over excursion.

When your box is alot bigger then recommended your efficiency increases. If i am not mistaken your subs will not need so much power to get them to move to there max. With the extra power you will push them past there limits thus damaging them. Please correct me if i am wrong guys.
