Sup fellas. As the title states, I am looking for an amp that does 1200-1500rms at 3 ohms for my RL-S. Right now I have one amp in mind and that would be the JBL BPX1100.1, as recommended by Brad. The cheapest I found that amp was $500 from sonicelectronix but they no longer sell it and I can only find the amp for around $600ish. So with that budget of $600 of under, what amp would you guys recommend for 1200-1500rms at 3 ohms? I just wanna see what other options I may have overlooked. I know its quite a random power range to look for. Ideas? :-)

Not a bad thought but I have heard some bad things about all the Massive Audio amps. Inefficient, overrated, almost same quality as Hifonics. What are your feelings on Massive Audio Canaan?

For the record, the budget can go up if need be....someone got a raise today :-)

Bonham, any idea on pricing for one of those? I can never find a price or even find anything on them.

Heres a noobish question, the Arc Audio amp Marc suggested says "1 x 1050W @ 4 ohms bridged". After box rise and everything, I should be close to a 4ohm load correct? So this amp would work just fine?

BTW, thanks for all the suggestions guys. It is awesome.

Had a guy come in the shop awhile back what had another local place install his Boss amp. The amp caught his truck on fire about 3 weeks later.

It was a Chaos series amp

$560 shipped in Jersey:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-JBL-BPX1100-1-Mono-Channel-Car-Audio-Amplifier_W0QQitemZ 180277508831QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

I have used this amp in our demo setups of three RL-S 15's, each in 1 1/4" MDF 5 cube sealed cabs. The extension and damping factor of the Crown front end has to be heard to be believed with the RL-S. The BPX benches at just under 1300 from 1-4 ohms which is right around optimal IMO. The Crown Servo circuitry and the build quality of this amp set it apart from most. Most of the amps mentioned above would also be good.

You have to remember that Chad is partly deaf. When I call him all he says is "herro anyvon dare, mudder dat yu?" over and over. Then he starts singing Chickety China. It's getting pretty annoying.

Referring to that JBL amp,^

# Power Series Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier
# RMS Power Rating:
# 4 ohms: 1141 watts x 1 chan.
# 1 ohm: 1022 watts x 1 chan.
# Max power output: 1312 watts x 1 chan.

Is that a misprint? It does more at 4ohms than one?

Hmm...what about a AQ3500? It would be $100 over your budget, but then you should be able to add a second one down the road, if you ever feel the need that is.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. I'm looking into all of them.

i thought that was it, just didn't know for sure..

might look into a 2 channel that puts out 1000 @ 4 ohm bridged .. after impedance rise you'd be up there

how about a pg xenon 1200.1 btw

Thats another option I've thought about Kevin. Its basically come down to the JBL, the PG, the AB, or the Arc Audio Marc posted. I thought about the Keeker but I just don't want to get that lol. A two channel isn't a bad thought either though.

" Its basically come down to the JBL, the PG, the AB, or the Arc Audio Marc posted. "

For your setup I'd have to go with the JBL..... it just seems like a waste to buy a 200.1 only to use at 3 ohms.

" A two channel isn't a bad thought either though. "

Actually it is..... a lot lower efficiency. If the electrical is stock don't even consider it.

but a class AB will be a lot cleaner of an signal, so for that sub.. I'd recommend it

The transistors in a class D amplifier are switching at frequencies much higher that a sub would ever play...... you're not going to hear any difference. Now if you tried to use a class D to drive full range speakers, then you'd hear the interference.

This is perfect yanks... MMats d2000.2.

They have been known to put out upwards of 2kw @2ohm, extremely small, extremely efficient. Plus its on sale! woo.
