The KAC-9104D was reviewed by Car Audio Mag...tested at 644wrms @ 14.4 into 2ohm.

They 'rate' the amp 900wrms @ 2ohm, produced 72% of rated power.

I'm not sure how accurate the tests were that Car Audio Mag did, but these results are sad to see. I though Kenwood was CEA2006 compliant.

in my opinion i think manufacrers over rate the amps intentionally. as to get the buyers attention and then they buy the product. find out that its not what its cracked up to be and then the buyers stuck with it. IMO

To make this even more sad...Kenwood advertises the amp at 1800W MAX.

And yea, its all the catch the eye of consumers. The average go would has no idea.

Yet another reason why letting the manufacturers do their own tests is still unfair. Voluntary independent testing is the only way. Then the companies that have the stones to submit their products will publish those certified results. Those who don't will lose trust in the market. It would kill the "cheater" amp category and also that thrill you get when your amp benches way more than rated, but who cares? The CEA-2006 standard is too lax and allows companies to work the loopholes and gray areas to their advantage. As it is, 1000RMS doesn't mean shit without plenty of * following it.

LOL this reminds me of that 1000 watt Sony amp sold at walmart that was rated at 50 watts rms x 2

Thinking about Sony at Walmart...now the Autotek Street Machine series is sold at Walmart. Just saw it the other day. They are Autotek's lowest line.

Also, dealer cost in the Autotek SM's is not much under Walmart's sale price :-(
I talked to my Autotek rep awhile back and he CLAIMED that the SM's were rated RMS and not PEAK. AKA, the SM1-1000 was a 1000wrms amp...but seeing as Walmart is selling it for under $200, that is total BS.
