So, literally 2mins ago a guy came in saying the amp he just got out of pawn don't work. I walk out to his truck and he has the Hifonics BXI1206D in his S10 wired up w/ ~12ga power and ground.
Power went through the door jam. Rca's over the front seats. And the amp didn't turn off when he turned the truck off.
He said it was blowing 30A fuses on his power wire. I told him yea...its going to. Told him to schedule and install time and have me rewire it w/ 4ga. I told him at least let me unhook it. He was cool and all, but had to go.
Walked out the door, got in the truck, cranked it up.......POOF!...up in smoke. Like a 6ft cloud. Popped hood quick, I walked out w/ wire cutters and we went to work. Fried ~6-8ft of wire and melted to the top of his batt and air-box.
He said since it was popping fuses, he just took the fuse holder out and wired it straight to the batt. When he closed the door, it pinched the wire.
I lold.
He is supposed to come back, have me check the amp, and reinstall it.
Oh, and NickV...I think that Hifonics might be one of Trevor's old amps. The guy said it came from Bastrop.
