Well went to my buddies place on Sunday and did some tesing on the TL and let's just say that the USACI mic that was used at a shop a couple days earlier was more than 5db off.....the wrong way :-(

Windows up, TL on the dash, car running and subs wired @ .5ohms I did a 144.9db @ 39hz being my higest and 144.6db as my most consistant score.
With my old set up, I did a 147db @47hz on my old box and premier subs: same amp, same car, car on and same ohm load.

We had the battery on a voltage meter and I only burped when @ 14+ volts and dropped down to around 10.8v during the burp. We came to a conclusion that my voltage/electrical is fine and that it is the box and subs that are the problem at hand.

Now when I say subs I mean underpowering them as after about 35+ burps @ 2-3 seconds a piece the dustcaps on the Elspls were still cold, not even warm so I am not achieveing maximum excursion and they are laughing at the amp. Thus I have a set of RD Alphas on the way and I plan on try running a single Elspl in my hatch back car and swap the amp out for competitions (next years plan)

My buddy is going to meet me at my parents place for the day near the end of the month and we are going to try the Alphas in 3 different boxes and see what performs the best, while remaining "decent" for sound as my old box and subs sounded pretty darn good for hitting 147db.

I will remember to bring my camera when we test out the various boxes.

10.8 is ok if you are running on battery alone. car on that is horrible. i run 2-3250.1 strapped at .5 and never dip below 12.8v. 300a alt and a yellow top

My bad! I got the two numbers mixed up...

10.8v is what my Head Unit reads and not the volt meter. It reads 13.5v when I am at 14.3 at the battery, so it if off by ~.8volts. So the battery actually dropped to 11.6v for the burp, it's still a drop mind you.

I see the drop as being kinda normal seeing as I have a 80amp alt, a regular starting battery and a 6,000rms amp.

Car off was a different test: I hit 144.2db with the car off and I can not remember what I dipped down to at the bettery, but my score went down by .4db which was not too bad as I belted out 144.6db about 11 times....

Yeah my buddy said I should get a deep cycle battery, but I need one that will fit in stock location and handle side posts....

I also have a 160a alt waiting to go in as my 200a got damaged over the winter in storage, not sure how though. Plus the 200a squealed and sounded really bad as it was hard to get spinning.

Shocking the mic.

The best balance we got as you can really hear when you get distortion, was gains set about half way deck at 40/62. If I turn the gains up more I guess I can use a lower volume at the deck....

When I try to roll the volume with the gains where they are it takes about 2-3 seconds just to get up to 40 as I have the Premier 770-mp and it's a dial I turn and it's crappy when you need to crank it up faster

Most important thing is peaking at 39HZ. We got to get you in a diffrent box. Them subwoofers will Excell above 50HZ for bursts.

The Alphas I am send will most likely do better @39hz then the SPL's. Shoot me you LxWxH and we can start working on something for you to get you over that 150.

Thanks Steve.

I am 100% sure that we will be tossing the Elspls's in my Escort hatch back rather than my Saturn so I will have a ton of options for box size, along with the benefits of having a smaller cabin car.

We have 3 boxes to test the alphas in mt Saturn and we will be doing that on the 28th.

Current box, triangle box tuned to 47hz that I did a 147 with in my car and weird half cirlce box that my buddy used in his Saturn with a pair of 800rms Treo's and 2 Earthquake D-10's to hit 150.6......I want a loud nice souding daily in my Saturn now and have my other car as the beat DB car with sound quality being not an issue.
