I had booked time on a meter today to tune my sub up for a comp this weekend, So I put together a cd of tones and BM songs to have ready. So im running thru the test tones, at mid volume or so, and the sub sounds kinda funny. So I check it out and find this. Never bothered to go get metered after finding this. Kinda pointless. Anyway. I see 3 options. Sell as damaged, refoam, replace. And I was planning on getting another one of them soon too. but now Im unsure.

Well, Im still weighing my options. BTW, I have an "in" at JL so Im gonna try and work that angle first. Ive also requsted foam relpacement price from Speaker Works, so it will be a while before I can make an informed descision. Lastly, this may be easily repaired just by glueing the foam back down, as it came away clean. Anybody know what type of glue is used on these and where it can be bought? Part express does not list it, as far as I can find.

Most any glue will eventually work loose again on a tear. Even silicon. Surround replacement is like $25 and you'll get two surrounds, adhesive, brush and instructions. You can't beat that.

Anyone know of a place to get a refoam kit for a 13.5 jl w6v2? I tried all the ones I could find.

Well, this is kinda how its ripped. So glueing it would be next to impossible. I really need to find a re foam, or something else.

if you don't care about looks silicone the outside and inside where it cracked.. should hold up fine

just allow plenty of dry time

I am starting to see more and more w6v2's w/ messed up surrounds.
I actually see more w/ the surround ripping next to the basket.

i repaired an old skool w6 with silicone doesn't work well with foam. After like about 2 weeks it just came apart again. Silicone works great with rubber surrounds though i repaired my sub and its still going strong after a year of daily beating.

try goop with drywall tape under the surround, that might work very well. It works very well with lexan and rc bodies. give it a shot u might just luck out.
