There are 2 enclosures, each containing a 12" Mach 5 MAW. I have an Earthquake PHD-10000W/2 driving them at 4 ohms for about 900 watts. Vehicle is a '94 Geo Tracker.

Build thread:
https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/455513.html

This weekend I installed both enclosures. I had planned to build a hardtop but got lazy so I just threw both the boxes in there and zap-strapped the spots where it wouldn't reach the latches.

Volume/Extension:
Stupid. I keep a pair of sound barriers hanging on the rear-view now. Everything shakes like mad. The doors flex and the dash shakes and the wipers bounce a little. I'm amazed that a pair of 12" subs that cost me $165 to get to my door and 900 watts can do this. They start to roll off at about 30 Hz and get down to about 25 Hz before I start worrying about unloading. It feels like a massage.

Sound quality:
They sound great. All I've tested so far was a little Justice System and some Stan Getz/Charlie Byrd but I'm impressed.

[Cliche]THE VERDICT:[/Cliche]
Get a design from Pete if you're going to build your own box.

This is a video comparing my old box to the new ones:

Not to shabby dude, that D-10 is not a bad amp eh! now you just have to a couple of weeks then you can cruise around.

I wish I had access to tools to do my own box, Fishercustoms is doing mine.

Hey Cam, Your old box was designed on subwoofertools.com? Is it so much louder because now you are using a bandpass box rather than just a ported box?

Thats pretty frikin' sweet, looks like a good amount of airs moving too! I wonder if it would be louder with a hardtop?

/\/\ike: I know, man! Just gotta bring it over here and then I get to drive around with my Mom who hates loud bass but it's all good. I'll find someone who can drive with me that doesn't mind. I can't wait though!

Killerz: I don't think TTB is doing designs but he's offering them through his business.

Kevin: My old design was modeled with Bass Box Pro 6. Bandpass enclosures are actually less efficient than regular bass-reflex but because there is a sealed chamber to control the cone, they are great if you want extension like I do. It's louder because Pete modeled it with my vehicle in mind and found the best way to fire the port, the optimal volumes and I built these better than my old box.

Chad and Sean: Thanks. It turned out great!

Donnie: It will be louder with a hardtop. "It will do wonders for your in cabin efficiency", Pete said. There is a fair bit of air moving. I was surprised. Even with less than half the displacement it's moving the TP in the window way more than before.

"Bandpass enclosures are actually less efficient than regular bass-reflex but because there is a sealed chamber to control the cone, they are great if you want extension like I do."

actually thats incorrect a bass reflex is 3 db more efficient than a sealed enlosure on average and a bandpass enclosure is 4 db more efficient than a sealed enclosure...without taking other factors in mind placing it in your vehicle

Sean, I can't check my PMs. It says that my info was entered incorrectly. I used these "•" in my name and I have to enter them every time I post too so I think that would be the reason.
camrennie at shaw.ca

Yeah, you just contact him through his site. I'm not sure if he's affiliated with them or not. I think he is. I know he's not affiliated with MAC anymore though.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone would notice those. As much as I hate them, I don't want to wear my Makavelis in the mud and lacing up my work boots is too much of a hassle.
