hey guys i just built my first box, everythin was good, sealed up tight
took my sx out of my old box and put it in the new one. when i finally hooked it up, it feels as though I have a lot less bass. I have a Memphis prd1000 hooked up to it so it should get pretty loud. I'm thinking I might have f*cked up the wiring possibly because I was getting a lot more bass from my old box, even though it was too small. Any ideas? I'm going to set my gain properly with a dmm tomorrow so I hope that might work, if not im gonna take the sub out and check it again to make sure. ?
well the first one was very small, felt like it was cramming the sub, dimensions were 18Wx13.5Hx16D the one I just built is 23.25Wx13.5Hx16D, so its just about 5in wider.
your first box was 1.66 cubic feet (18Wx13.5Hx16D) your second box is 2.19 cubic feet (23.25Wx13.5Hx16D)
your new box probably hits the lows better and your other box probably hits the high end better go somewhere in between the two boxes...if my guess is right about the boxes
first one was supposedly 1.5 tuned to 30hz, it was a prefab which is why im not using it anymore. But the second one is tuned to 35hz. I used re's lport calc. to design the one I have now.
you are correct on that sean, the one i have now hits the lows pretty good, im rather satisfied with it now that i set the gain thanks
