Bronze Member Username: Vivi2000Post Number: 16 Registered: Aug-07 | I have extra 10 gauge power wire from my last install. The amp i am looking at requires 8 gauge i believe. My question is if I can run 2 power wires(10 gauge) from my battery to this amp and it will be ok, or do i need to get bigger wire and run only one wire to it. Since it is in parallel, the current will split, therefore 20 A through each, when the amp is cranked. This, I know for a fact. MS says to choose your fuse size based on the wire gauge, but a short will allow a ridiculous amount of current to flow, so as long as you stay under the amount that the wire is rated to carry for that length, it's all good, I believe. Feel free to correct me. |
