I just purchased a JBL GTO1201.1 amp off of ebay to replace my old HiFonics 1000d amp that blew. There was a about 2-3 months where I went without an amp so maybe things may have shifted a little bit in my car. But the problem is when I hooked up the JBL amp I didnt get any power and none of the lights lit up at all. But as I was driving today the amp all of a sudden just turned on. It was on for about 5-10 mins and then the protection light came on for about 10 seconds and then all the lights were off again. But for those 5-10 mins the music was POUNDING my 12" Alpine Type-R's. I checked the ground n redid it much better. What else could it be?? Any suggestions??

please help asap! I went to the shop and there trying to charge me $45 just to look at it.

replace fuses even if they look fine they can be toast.

what's the voice coil config on those subs!?

I think you had problems with wires and then your amp worked at lower impedances

Disconnect all speaker wires

Disconnect rca jacks

Turn you radio on

Test all the power connections at the amp with a multimeter.

Your power should be around 12-14.4 volts.

Your remote wire should also be 12-14.4 volts.

If you are getting power through the power wire and the remote wire , chances are the amp has internal problems
