I am currently shopping for 2 of them as a present to myself, both for competitions and for impressing onlookers and I was wondering what would be a good Amp(s) to run these bad boys?

If you don't mind me asking, what is your budget for subs and amp? There are better subs for the money. You can email me as well.

The W7's weren't really made for SPL...more like SQL. If you can spend that much money on JL subs and amps, I would look elsewhere to buy more for your buck, louder too.

Michael, why don't you go and visit a JL dealer and listen to 12W7 in a HO box. One will certainly be enough to impress most. I doubt you'll be able to withstand 2 of them in the car.
Whatever you do, DO NOT buy cheap amps with them. You'll regret it later after the subs are blown.

On the amps, you could run JL 1000/1 x 2 or one Zapco C2K 9.0 amp. I'm assuming you're into quality?

if you want to power two 12w7's i would agree with marc with 1000/1 on each. It would sound very clean and hit hard.
