i got the perfect box for u.....3.5 cubes tuned to 35 hz built for r's....kerfed port..demensions are 36wide 14tall and 17 deep

that box on car audio factory is only 5/8" mdf...i wouldnt suggest buying somehting less then 3/4" mdf....

For the subs he's planning on running it would be fine as far as the thickness of that box goes.Of course I'd never really recommend a pre-fab but if you don't have the money a pre-fab is better than nothing.
