An ear would be better. in order for an O-scope to be efective you would have to drive around with it. Not all music is recorded at the same level so to assume once you have set the gain once that it is indeed SET is an incorrect assumption. This is why you set the gains at 3/4 volume and not full because it allows you to listen and adjust the volume manually for each recording... Polo..

Yep.That's also why you should be careful with your expensive audio equipment.An O-Scope will show how much clean power comes out running a tone and that's a basis to setting the power but if you see that the amp is clipping and you see that you're only getting 2.5k RMS out of that amp you know it's over-rated and that's what I was getting at.I'm not saying that the amplifier at hand is over-rated but I've heard odd things about them here and there.
maybe if it was an apxx i might be excited, i've seen apx's take wall sockets free air, so 3k isn't anything major.
