Hi,

I am looking at some new subs for my car, and i was wondering what is the difference between the jl w3 vs the w3v2 if i was to get two 12" subs. I know that the w3's arent in 12"s anymore so i would get last year's model, and that the w3v2's are more expensive. So basically what i want to know is if the w3v2's are enough of an upgrade over the w3's to spend the extra cash. Any input would be great, thanks.

Yea the v2 does mean two voice coils. Just get the older W3's. I think you will be plenty happy with them.

v2 is the way the sub is designed not two voice coils. i had old w3's and they where dual voice coil. the v2 is the technology they used to develope the w7's. the lower line subs like the w6v2 and w3v2 have designs based on the w7

Yeah, same with the W6v2. The W6v2 has overroll surround, etc. just like the W7. Basically the W3v2 handles more power (a little over 250W RMS)through more advanced cooling technology, it has cosmetic upgrades, and a different mounting.
