Affects of inverting subs.

what would happen to the sound of a sub when inverted in a ported box? is it recommended since the box was made for the sub to be regularly mounted? would it sound better you think? thanks.

Well if the box was made for the sub to be inserted normaly then inverting the sub would increase the internal air volume inside the box. This would affect both the tuning frequency and the way the sub would sound. Just leave the sub in the box normaly. Inverting the sub does not change the way the sub sounds at all. It is only done to show off the magnet of the woofer.

inverting has no effect on the sound of the sub, aside from changing the volume of the box, by changing the driver displacement.
essentially, inverting a sub makes the box a bit larger, which will change your port tuned frequency.

Inverting is just as NORMAL as keeping them flush mounted! Go for it.

But it's a ported box, meaning if he does invert it, the driver doesn't displace any air inside the box, effectively increasing it's volume. Therefore, the tuning of the port will be thrown off. Just as the two above said. If you want to show off the magnet, go for it, it'll sound the same. You'll have to custom make the box for the sub, though.
