Hey guys, the only way I know to tune a box is type in my info on ecoustics and let that spit out my box dimensions.

Is there a way to almost work in reverse? Given a box roughly 36"x14.5"x16" is there a way to adjust the port length only to tune a box lower? Make it longer, make it shorter, what can i do? My trunk is small, and these dimensions are the best I can work with.

Is there a formula to calculate box frequency?

You can add damping material to increase the box's calculated volume to compensate for lack of space or design limitations/mistakes. I believe it adds 10%-15%. Not much to work with. Not to mention if it's a slot ported box you'll have to tear the box apart to even get to lengthen it if you can.

Wow. I've always read/heard a 15% gain was all you could get. However all that polyfill reduces the option of lengthening the port. I bet alot of guys wish they knew that^^^ b4 redesigning their boxes......

It is possible for me to make a new box, but how much of that fiberfill should I add if my box is roughly 47HZ now and I want it to be 33HZ.

say there is a 25% gain from my box, this still doesnt tell me what my new frequency would be? How would I figure this?

If you add the 25% to the box's volume then calculating the tuning is the same. Assume the new volume and use ^^^ Rob's calculator to determine port size/length. If you have to adjust it's size/length to keep or change your tuning so be it. Like I said, have fun if the slot interfears with all the poly. Sometimes there's only so much you can do.

in the case of a ported box id use the sheets not the loose stuff of course

Or confetti. That would look cool flying out the port!
