I just recently bought the new Rockford Fosgate P500-2, 2 channel amplifier with a rated bridged power of 500x1 @ 4 ohms and a real power of 743x1 @ 4 ohms on the birth sheet. The sub that I bought is a T112d4, dual 4 ohm voice coil 12" subwoofer 600 rms and 1200 peak. With this sub it seems I can only wire it up to a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load. Ive talked to Rockford Fosgate and theyve told me to do the 8 ohm wiring but wont this reduce the power of my amplifier in half? Will I be able to run it at the 2 ohm wiring set up or will this fry my amp. Help would be greatly appreciated.

you can run it at 2 ohms, but NOT BRIDGED. your power will probably be 250 watts rms.

If I run it with the 8 ohm, will this be enough power for the sub to sound good or will it not be enough. the birth sheet also has at the bottom a max power of 2229 watts?

can you run two 12 inch subs (1200 watt) off of a kicker 200.2 amp

it depends upon what the amp is stable at ohm wise and the rms of the speakers and what the rms output, for example, i am screwed because my amp is 500 watts @ 1 channel stable at 4 ohms and the sub i have is a dual 4 ohm. this sub can only be wired with a 2 ohm or 8 ohm configuration. since my amp is stable at 4 ohms the 8 ohm configuration will reduce the power of my rms wattage in half due to the fact that the sub is supplying 8 ohms to a 4 ohm source, and with the 2 ohm setup it will double the power of my amp, this is sometimes ok if your amp can handle it but it is usually best to stick with the stable ohm power. If your two 12 inch subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils and ur amp is stable at 4 ohms then you can run them

simple answer:
you bought the wrong sub.
you want the dual 2 ohm model for a two-channel bridged amplifier.

return the sub, or take the amp back and buy a mono class D amp
OR buy a second identical sub and wire both the 2 ohms, and put one on each amp channel, or wire the pair of subs in series for a 4 ohm load

how can i tell if the subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils and if they are how do you hook them up with the amp (picture if you have)

a single "dual 4 ohm coil" sub can be wired for either a 2 ohm or an 8 ohm load.
if you want a 4 ohm load to present to an amp, you need a dual 2 ohm, or a single 4 ohm coil sub.

yea thats a 200 watt 2 channel amp, you must be new to this, ive never owned a kicker but on one of the sides there should be like 4 openings, positive and negative, they may be right beside each other or not, this is for two subs right?

I gotcha man, im here to help, it seems like that amp may not be strong enough to power those two but are those 1200 watts peak together or separate, would you happen to know the rms ratin on each subwoofer if not let me know what the model is

Well it looks like your amp is 200 watts bridged and has been tested to produce like 239 and the subs you have are 1200 watts peak and 350 rms. Which really means that the amp you have can really only power one of the subs and with that it still cant really push the sub good enough since the max on the amp is less than the rms of the sub. This type of amp is really only made for one sub

I prefer Rockford Fosgate over most cuz ive had many and i beat down on them and the amplifiers hold up but here is a pretty good one for a cheaper price
