After looking at the manual for the 1000D, I did this one calculation and wow, I think Sundown is goin down the hole.

With their 75 fuse rating & their published 86% efficiency:

W = 14.4 x 75 x .86

W = 928.8 watts @ 1 ohm!!

Even if it is a really efficient amp, it can't even do rated power.

I'm quite let down by this, after all the hype about it and the 1500D b0ner...

very weird.. 1k amp with 75A fuse. It must be hell efficient. Not even hifonics who claims 1200w rms with a 80A fuse

To produce 1000 watts with 75 amps at 14.4 volts, that amp would have to be 92.5% efficient. That's not unheard of, but it's really high.

Also, it makes a big difference what impedance (ohms) that 86% rating is at. Most amplifiers' efficiency decreases as impedance is lowered, and vice versa.

how can you say sundown is going down the hill? jacob even says that the sae line is the entry line. he also stated on his forum that the 1000d will do 1000wrms, give or take a few, when tested at 13.8v @ 1ohm. and will also run daily at .5ohm if you know what you're doing.

92.5% efficient everyday amp? I think it's priced too low to be that efficient. :-(

Yes, that's true about less efficiency at lower loads. That could very well be efficiency at 1 ohm, or 4. Most likely 1, that would make it quite efficient at 4 ohm.

Yeah, I guess they are priced quite well for the build quality. The 1000D CAN NOT do 1000wrms, due to the physics @ 14.4v. Stability at .5 Ohm is very impressive though.

What is presale price, again?

Might want to go to the Sundown forum on www.soundsolutionsaudio.com that would be the best bet for any information on the Sundown products, period.
