Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 19:48 GMT I was wondering what the difference is between the 12dvq and 12vq. (400RMS each) Is the dual 4ohm load better than just the single 4ohm? and I also have a Kicker zx300.1 from my old system and plan on using that if I buy a pair of perfects. The Kicker puts out 350RMS @ 2ohm and 150RMS @ 4ohm. Should I sell that and buy a mono amp that puts out 800RMS for both subs or just get another Kicker zx300.1 for the other sub? (I don't know much about the way speaker impedance and stuff works)

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 19:54 GMT I would suggest buying one larger amp. As far as the subs, buy single voice coil if you want to wire it to 2ohm and buy dual voice coil if you want to wire it to 1ohm.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 20:30 GMT Alright, thanks a lot for your help. Do you think putting the Perfects in an SEALED enclosure (1.0 cubic feet per sub) would sound best? I'm trying to go for more SQ.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 22:25 GMT Find an amp that does 1000wrms @ 1ohm. Sealed would be best for SQ.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 23:33 GMT I liked them at 450-500wrms. Sealed would be best for SQ, but they still sound incredible in ported applications. You gain more output and hardly lose any SQ in ported.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 23:43 GMT I would put them in a little bigger box than that, 1.3 sealed is the magic number -- taking into account the driver displacement. The Perfects hit harder when they are in a little bit bigger box than specified. Arguably the best mainstream sq woofer ever made.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 - 23:43 GMT What about an amp that will do 1000wrms @ 2ohms? Such as the Kicker ZX1000.1 What exactly is the difference in ohms output?

Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 00:15 GMT Is there a particular type of enclosure that works best in SUVs? (Ford Explorer) And for hip-hip/trance music would the subs sound better (hit harder & deeper) in a sealed or ported box?

Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 00:16 GMT The ZX1000.1 would give each sub around 550 watts each which would be ideal. Get two dual 4's and wire them like this:

Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 00:20 GMT I don't know if this is right, but will the ZX1000.1 put out a 1ohm load? It only said 500x1wrms @ 4ohm and 1000x1wrms @ 2ohms...

Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 00:25 GMT Yeah that's right, that Kicker isn't 1 ohm stable I always forget that. In that case just get two of the single vc model and wire them to 2 ohms.
