how much wattage, and in what speaker configuration, have you experienced that BOOM, that can be heard a block away?
what kind of car was it? hatchback, sedan, coup, suv,minivan?

On subs, it depends on the car, in which the BOOM that you hear a block away happens more so in hatchbacks and SUV's with the windows down. I've heard pretty good systems with 600W RMS, but it's totally up to the subs. My cousin has two Adire Audio Shivas in the back of a Focus (hate the car, but oh well) running off a JBL 600.1, 1.5 cu. ft per sub, and it's LOUD for the amount of power.
