My budget is $300 and i'm either looking for one 15" sub or two 12" subs.

i was thinking maybe a 15" Kicker L7 or a couple 12" alpines (perhaps type Rs). i want loudness mainly. any constructive criticism?

if you don't already have the amp, for like 20-30 bucks more you could get a 1606d which is probably pushin 1200 watts rms mayybe 1300, and you could hook up the two alpine r's (D4 - ithink swr1242's) with the gain down and they'd slam or those same subs on the 1206, dont get a L7

and yes, you could run two dual 4 ohm vc type r's to that amp perfectly, make sure you get dual 4 ohm if you get that amp though

well i already have the amp so if i decide to go with the two type r's, what would be a good setting for the sub sonic, bass eq, low pass, phase, and level so that i don't fry the amp?

and should i wire the subs parallel? would that wire them down to a 2 ohm load?

no,no,no... you want to wire the 2 subs to a 1 ohm load http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qt y=2&woofer_imp=4
you connect all positives and all negatives...
and for the box dont buy a prefab build one or have one build it for you... their are some vox builders in here and if you want to do it your self here is a page that will help with the desing:

thanx guys.

so the 2 pos from both voice coils on the 1st sub go to the one pos output on the amp and the 2 pos from both voice coils on the 2nd sub connect to a diff pos output and repeat with neg?
or all pos connect to 1 pos output and all neg connect to 1 neg output? i just want to be perfectly clear

just like this:Upload
and you can either do slot vented (part of the box) or tube vented (sealed boxwithe a pvc tube going inside).
www.the12volt.com this page have some calculators you may be able to use.
