So have I, but last time it was on, someone posted it, and maybe some of the noobs can go see and learn something. I think they hit over 160 but it was at like 18 hz or something low and "unheard of" like that. There is a vid on ROE in the woofer or various section of this episode.

Its actually called a driveshaft. The crankshaft is inside the engine and is connected to the flywheel, which is connected to the torque converter, which is connected to the transmission, which is connected to the driveshaft. Theres a little more to it but don't feel like typing.

You know what the downfall of that whole design was? When they attached the shaft to the actual woofer cone it wasn't pushing it straight at all, you can see in the slow-mo when it self destructed that's what happened. It got all sideways and just ripped the thing to shreds. I think they are rushed on these shows or they could have made it much better.

^^^lol

they take a lot longer to do the things on there than it seems. kinda like a montage deal... but yeah they should have made some device to make it a linear motion...

Jamie:"It's 51 inches"
Wayne (dB drag guy): *stunned look*
Narrator: "According to the look on waynes faces, he's never seen one as big as jamies."

Yep Eric, it is pieced together later in the edit room, but still I think they rushed it a bit. That innertube surround they made was freakin' awesome though. It seemed like it was going to hang in there until the cone got pushed all sideways.

What was the SPL they ended up with at 20hz? I remember thinking it was an insane number.

I agree that some changes would have made it better.

Thats what I mean, If things were done differently they could have tryed again but the only test destroyed the setup. Many other things I would change but don't feel like typing that much.

Also 2 of my old Super Street 3-4 astros were ripping sheet metal, ripping doors, and breaking windshields, so I dont agree with there conclusion. Also my breakage was done from 65-67hz and at a 165+. So tuned lower, and over a 160 can definately destroy some stuff.
