The question is simple; Sealed or Ported?

-2 12" assassins.
-Will be in trunk of a 2000 Crown Victoria.
-Back seat does NOT fold down.

ported since the seats dont fold down. then take out the rear fill speakers so u can get some bass coming through the holes possibly

I just ordered the same subs Crown. Post when you get them and give them a listen. I just wanted to see what the AA hype is all about.

try both and see what you like better. also alot depends on your subs. some subs like sealed better than ported and vice versa.

Trey, Y go sealed for Rap?? Sealed has better SQ, and would prolly b a better choice for Rock and stuff with quick drums, snares, etc. I'd port it facin the rear. Removin the back speakers does help alot, dependin on the size. My caddy had a 12" hole adn it makes a huge diff. with the factory sub removed. Lots of airflow comes thru

A ported setup can work well with with those types of music, but is a tiny bit more involved as far as box building goes. Personally I like the sealed boxes more, mostly because of the smaller size of the box. And this is just a personal opinion- but I also prefer sealed for techno/ trance. In the setups ive heard ported boxes were a little bit boomy. Now for the people that are going to reply with "OMFG NUBE YOU AINT HERD SH1T YOE MY SETUP PWNU," please save it.. i dont care.

I'd say sealed then for the SQ. If you change your mind you can always do a ported tuned around 33, not too big of a port.. should sound nice either way. I'm not sure how AAs sound, best way to be sure is try both. All subs are different.

Just when i think i've made a decision...it gets more complicated. What about all these options?

If QTS below 50 go sealed.
50 - 70 = either way
>70 = ported.
QTS above 70 = sh:tty driver LMFAO:-)

Just go sealed if you don't want "yo" style sloppy, boomy response:-)

SEALED RULZZZ:-)

Another thing IMHO rap = not music.
If you want to listen to rap just take a test CD and put 50hz on repeat:-), come up with lyrics yourself:-).
Well there are a few other rules when you want to listen to rap:
your trunk absolutely MUST rattle
your car has to be falling apart
you should not have any mids (just some distorted half way blown highs will do)
your box has to be ported (well bandpass would be the ultimate)
your setup must include some "bad arss" 6x9's prefferably laying down on the rear deck:-)
(5x7's will not get you respect on the street:-))
your amps must be "bling" (Audiobahn will do)
your highs MUST be powered off the HU
>50% of the system must be bought on the street:-)

You are set:-)

i agree more so with Maris'.
however, i am talking about the EBP result, and not the QTS...although QTS can help as well. i was told a driver higher than a QTS of .4 would do better sealed. and anything lower does better ported.
it is more fine tuned. i have seen drivers recommended for Ported that hat ~70 so i go with his. Chauncey's is more general, but can still give you a very good idea of what box to put the sub in.

btw, LMFAO Maris.:-)

"IMHO rap = not music"....your "humble"(LOL) opinion just became pretty worthless. As someone who listens to almost every different kind of music i think that's pretty narrow minded, and frankly, stupid.

Fs 23.1 / Qes .41 = 56

I think i'm goin sealed. i certainly dont want a setup that only suits hip/hop music. besides sealed boxes are cheaper for the most part :-)
