how do you take the stock HU out of an '00 expedition****

u either pop off the trim around it and take out the screws..or just pop it out...
try to look for screws and allso if its not budging after u pull it pretty hard dont keep pulling..tht means thier is a scrw holding it...

You may need that dual pin tool that ford uses for their theft deterrant device.Look on the front of the head unit you might see 2 pinholes on the left and 2 pinholes on the right if so...you need a tool that ford uses.

oh yes i have herd of those..they look like a
U-shaped tool..im sure thier only like 4 bucks...
go to advanced autoparts... ask them for the book about ur car tht gives u step by step on just about every thing u can do to ur car....
itll give u a wiring diagram and everthhing so im sure it tells u how to pop ur trim

if you're looking to get the radio popped out, try going down to your local circuit city, offer the installer there like $5 cash and chances are fairly good he'd be more then happy to pop it out for ya.

I've made a good $100 cash in pocket just opping out ford/vw/audi radios this passed summer

dude i took a radio out of a ford windstar the other day, i took a metal clothes hangar and cut the corners off. they r already u's. just stick them in and push the tops of the u to the outside and pull. it worked for me! good luck

ok, im gonna try tomarrow, im more worried about the plastic cosmetic cover thing. idk how to get that off, i saw in the thing that it just pulls off but it didnt seem to just pull off, i dont have it right here to try so ill have to wait till tomarrow i guess, thanks all yall to help out one of your brothas

i took the cd player out of my old car ( 95 lumina) unscrew 2 screws and pop the dash out then unscrew the head unit...easy as pie.

ummm, different car... wtf? ive done ALOT of other cars with no problem but this got me stumped and i found out why ^^^^

The tools are free is right. A hanger works great if you need the U-shaped tool. Just cut two lengths off of the hanger and bend them into shape. Worked great when I took a stock HU out of an Explorer.

I suppose im the only installer that likes to have the proper tools around "just in case" :-)
