Why your subs firing into the box? You underpowering them?

I never really understood this concept.. maybe I'll re-wire my cvr's backwards see what they sound like..

yup
if you have some SWEEEEET looking subs and you want to show them off(which i don't recommend unless you want someone to else to enjoy them).

it will change the tuning of your box ever so slightly....maybe up it a half-hz or so....

Hmm... I guess I never got into that "make ya subs bling" stuff.

I mean, I make my installs look nice, but most people want it to look stock or just want it thrown in a box and wired up.

The CVR is nothing to show off, I'll tell that to anyone who doesn't know. It's got a tiny magnet and a less-than-appealing basket :-\

Wouldn't you lose sound because of the lost cone space? I mean, you would lose a couple of sq. inches of cone because of the magnet being mounted directly in the middle of the woofer?

I currently use a sealed 3.86 cu.ft. box sliced to two chambers for 2-12" cvr subs and it fires up in my tiny 91 accord, I couldn't even imagine firing them down into the box.. I'd lose the last few inches of trunk space I still have!

Anyways, thanks for the info..

I agree with muddy and chauncey. I read in Car Audio magazine that it doesnt make a difference in sound, that it all depends what you want your install to look like.

pretty much......i wouldn't do it though.....it advertises your subs even more.

soemone could see XXX on the front of the cone and say "i wonder what those are....and how loud they get"

but when the see the motor structure they will say "MINE!!!!!" lol
