I looked around for some time trying to find a powerful 15" sub and I have heard nothing but positive things about the RE XXX, so I decided to try to get my hands on one. I finally found one and now I have no idea what the appropriate amp would be to get every ounce of power out of this sub. I also was wondering if anyone could help me find a good box to choose for it so I get nice clear SQ + SPL and so it doesn't sound like crap. Thanks a lot!

RE XXX are GREAT subs. did u get the 05 version or 06??

Whats the specs for the sub? VC config, and 1600rms?

-I got the '05 version from ebay..i just hope the sub is really what its hyped up to be..im putting it in a '98 Ford Explorer so im really hoping it will be like hard to breath when it bumps..well see i guess, i duno if anyone here has heard it and can tell me if its really that loud?

-I looked all over trying to find the specs on the sub but i guess its dual voice coil and 1600 rms, that's all i really know.

-So the 4 guage wires aren't gonna cut it..what size should i buy? I just don't wanna cut myself short of the power i could get out of this sub like i did with my last subs lol.

look into something that does 1500 - 1700 at 1 or 4 ohms .. cuz im pretty sure its a dual 2 ohm

run zero guage ... and if u have another amplifier ... just grab a d block and the wire from knukonceptz

Mane... i bought two RE XXX 15's and two Orion Amps, one for each sub but then i needed money so sold both the amps then couldnt ever save enough to get amps again so i sold the subs and now im still stuck with my old stuff which isnt bad stuff but im really kicking myself for selling all my new gear before even hooking it all up and listening to it and just basking in the glory .. but im sure you will be happy with the subwoofer and try to get a amp that can supply it with around 2000rms

if its dual 2 ohm, look into a hifonics 2005d (or simthin) if you want cheap.

like i said, the XXX line is very nice and you should be pleased with the set-up. make sure you build a box that is made to the specs of the sub. i dont know if it will make ur chest hurt, but they are high quality subs.

0 awg is too big for 1600. i would use 1/0

great amps:

PPI amps are great also...

http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?id=26

diamond D61500.1 -- http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/index.cfm?page=productList&type=27&line=2&m odel=

Crossfire VR2000D--- http://www.crossfirecaraudio.com/frameset.asp

kicker zx1500
Human Reign 2 -- http://www.soundstream.com/amplifiers-human.htm

these are just some choices. all of them are very high quality amps, and do 1500+. not all of them will work with ur sub, b/c we need to know the VC configuration. they come in DVC 4 and 2 ohm
