Here's the deal, I have a mtx mxa 6001 amp. It powers at 600 rms watts. hence 600 x 1 @ 2 ohms, or it can power 300 x 2 @ 4 ohms. With this amp I have 2 subs, both alpine swr 1021d's. They are dual 2 ohm voice coils. So I can power them both together to the amp @ 2ohms, or I can power them seperately @ 4ohms. I have had them hooked up paralell (I think that's what it's called.. Both powered together, bridged at the amp) but I would like to ask you people on ur take on weather I should take the time to split my sub box, and drive to the city, and get anopther terminal, and hook them up seperately @ 4 ohms. Your feedback is appreciated. Oh, I listen to metal, which has lots of quick bass attacks. What should I expect??

hook up each sub separately Your amp will run cooler at 4 ohms and will have less distortion.
Also I check spec caused you didnt post, so hooking up each alone is the way to go, unless your subs handle 600wrms..

4 Ohm Load 400 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohms U 1% THD+N 300 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohms U 1% THD+N 200 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohms U 1% THD+N
2 Ohm Load 800 Watts RMS per channel at 2 Ohms U 1% THD+N
600 Watts RMS per channel at 2 Ohms U 1% THD+N
400 Watts RMS per channel at 2 Ohms U 1% THD+N

My subs handle 300rms a piece. they are dual 2ohm voice coils. So I can hook them up to the amp at 4ohms a piece, as apposed to 2ohms for the both. I'm going to do it, i'll post my opinion.
