I need an amp to power my alpine 12" type x sub. It RMS is 500-1000 watts and maximum of 3000 watts. My price range is $600 at the most.

"why over power it by %50"

head room, also type X's are pretty inefficient so that extra 50% is nice

i had mine on a kx600.1 and it sounded pretty damn good. once i get this new boy, ill see how it is. i honestly dont see a type-x needing a 1500w, from someone who owns one. yeah, u could spend more and buy a zx1500.1 and set the gains low, or you could just get a zx1000.1 for cheaper, set the gains properly, and their usually underated anyway so your gunna get more than a 1000w rms. its just logical

Do you think the Pioneer Premier PRS-D5000SPL would be good for it? Here is the specs:

RMS Power Range : 750-1500 Watts
Number Of Channels: 1
Maximum Power: 3000 Watts
Low Frequency response: 10 Hz
High Frequency Response: 240 Hz
Built In Crossovers: Yes
Channel Separation: Yes

The price is $629 a little over but do you think it will handle my 12" alpine type x?

ur not very hard to please, no offense but personally i use to have 1 and if u dont give it that much power u are better off with a better sub..

Honestly u would be better off with a better sub anyway, for the money type x's are sh!t
