Well just subtract the thickness of the wood from the outer dimensions then use the results to calculate it. You'll want to make the box a little smaller than the max dimensions you have to fit it so can get it in. You can choose to use a slot port or round ports using aeroports or something similar. It's your preference what type you use, doesn't really matter, but a slot port will make the box stronger

to get ft^3 do this:
-get your outer dimensions (ie 25" x 45" x 15")
-subtract 1.5" off each side if you are going to use .75" thick wood (most people do)(2" if your using 1" thick wood)
-so now you have 23.5" x 43.5" x 13.5"
-multiply them together and you get 13800.375in.^3
-then divide by 1728 to get ft. ^3
-you have 7.99 ft.^3 for a box

You can use plywood, but it's not the best choice. It flexes more than MDF. You can get MDF at Home Depot. I got a fairly large sheet for ~$22, but I'll need a little more to complete my box. Don't get me wrong there, because my box is going to be huge. Use the link below for the slot port. Go to the section called "Calculate Your Vent Length". It's what I used, but you have to have the total cubes of the box before you do it. Note that you decide what the height and width are of the box on your own, along with the tuning frequency. In the end it will give you the depth of your port

Well you must have done something wrong... Give me the volume in cu. ft of your box, what you want to tune it to, and your desired height and width of the port.

4.4 ft^3
I put in 13 inches i think, but you can use whatevr size would be easiest.....
the box is 14.5"tall X 36" wide X 20" deep
so probably 3" wide port

Alright, this port is tuned to 32hz. 13" x 3" x 16.67" (anything about .20" off of that is fine) depth.
