I'm planning on buying a new cobalt sometime in the future and Im afraid to start hacking away and lowering the value of my car.

I know this is offtopic but does anyone know where I can find car schematics or something so I can find a way to get to my battery w/o cutting a hole in the firewall?

yepp, either under the back seat, or in the trunk area...

Charlie, the batt in the back just gives more space under the hood area for work that needs to be done.

Ive seen dodge intrepid, with the battery in the front side fender to the bottom of the car.... now that sucked, u had to remove the coolant hoses and everything to even change it!
