Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 2264 Registered: Sep-04 | i disagree, chad says 1000 wrms will be great for a Havoc. though i bet there will be people giving them form 2000-3000 wrms. use a dmm to tune the amplifier the way that JL says (theres a tutorial on their site) and you wont have any clipping. the sub cannot MAKE your amp clip. just tune it correctly. |

Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 2266 Registered: Sep-04 | well whats your definition of max? gains ALL the way up? if your gains are set correctly (which i consider max), that is the max clean output the amp can put out. so say for instance its D2 ohm (i dont really know) and you wire it to 4 ohms. turn the gain up until it reads 63.2V on the dmm with a 50hz track at 0db and 3/4 volume. now wether your running a 50 inch subwoofer capable of 50000w rms or a 4 inch speaker capable of 15 w rms and both are wired to 4 ohms, the amp will put out 1000w rms. so its definetly possible to run it without clipping. especially with that amp, its so easy to tune. |

Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 2270 Registered: Sep-04 | yeah thats what i was saying. if he sets the gains correctly his amp wont clip and neither the sub nor amp will be damaged, and it will still be very loud. but forcing an amplifier to clip is beyond an amplifiers potential so i dont consider that pushing an amp harder... i consider it abusing and misusing your equipment. |
