there are problems inherant with any non-round speaker, but far more pronounced with the solobarics. These include; limited excursion by design lead slap and separation very common cone fractures very common cone flexing due to uneven stress points also the above causes surround separation and failure. the cone flexing also causes coloration in the output.
solobarics are lousy for sound quality, and for reliability, but kicker is good about replacing them (over and over for many users) and they do get loud, sure.
I'd just rather have loud combined with long product life and good SQ.
