I just bought (2) 12" kicker solo baric L7. I am only looking for 1 amp to push these subs, but Crutchfield is telling me that I need 2 amps, 1 for each sub. Any suggestions for an amp????????

they are 750 rms a piece i think so one 1200 to 2000 watt amp will be fine. crutchfield isn't that great of a site for advice and they are prob telling you to get 2 amps because they are just matching the rms value of the subs with the products they carry, which i guess is nothing 1500 watts. they just want to make money of course.

a kicker kx1200.1 will be fine or you could go bigger. or the new zx1500.1 would work. of course you don't have to go with kicker amps, the JL 1000/1, PG Xenon 1200.1, Orion 1200D or 1500D, Hifonics makes several models that would work....

Do you think a kicker amp is the best way to go? I want to keep it all kicker.

I just bought an 06 S12L7 and I'm having trouble matching it up with an amp. its 750 rms 1500 max and its 2 Ohm, whats the best way to go? I already have a 1200 watt kit and the deck, I just dont want to blow anything up or underpower the sub (I've installed my systems before but nothing this big) Im not really concerned about price but a $600 amp for a $200 sub is a little nuts.

myuh, no reason to stick with kicker unless you just want to. It won't benefit the sub at all simply because of the brand name.

Best price I can find on the kx1200.1 is here -
http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?x=04KX1200.1&zipz=11001

You can find refurbs for $360 or so

Nick - that's a dual 2, right? The kicker 600 would be a good match -- $268 shipped http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?x=04KX600.1&zipz=11001
or
Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1
Orion 600D
There are a LOT of others that would work well.

Myuh, if you go with the KX600.1, you'll need 2 amps, one for each sub. the KX1200.1 will be just like 2 600.1's in a single package.

The 600 would obviously be about 1/2 the power per sub so they won't play as loud as they would with the 1200. Other than that it will work fine.

There are a lot of budget sub amps that will get you around 1000w for $150-250.

Hifonics, Lanzar, Power Acoustik.
Not nearly the brand recognition as kicker, but at the end of the day - power is power, especially for subs.

Also - there are several refurbished amps at ikesound.com (if they're not sold out). Orion, Directed, Viper

Money isnt an issue. I rather pay more for a good amp that would do the job. So definitely go with the kicker KX1200??? I would have no problems right guys??
