I have two Alpine SWR 1222d (dual 2 ohm) powered by an Hifonics BX1605d. Would I be able to wire the r's separate from each other and run two different wires to my amp rather than one? The hifonics has two different speaker input's so i was thinking of just putting the two jumpers in each separate sub and wire them directly to the amp, rather than putting only one jumper in a - and + terminal of both subs and wiring them together which is how i have them now.

It says in the alpine diagram i can wire the dual 2 ohms to 1 ohm by placing both jumpers in each sub and then just run a - and + wire to the amp. The amp will let two subs be wired separately but it says "2 ohms each minimum"

So all i need to know is this ok to do or should i stick with how i have them now, wired together?

you will want them to run at 1 ohm

they only way to get those two subs to 1 ohm is by how you have it

if you wire them separate you could only get down to a 2 ohm load

although it seems that there are two channels..they really get paralleld together..cutting the ohm loads in half

so you put 1 ohm into each "channel" and it cuts down to .5

so keep it hwo it is

"""Rovin..i posted this earlier, whats your opinion?"""

u can get by with it if u wire ur subs to it @ 2ohms

its rated 1100wrms @ 2ohms in reality its roughly around 800wrms

even though a R is rated @ 500wrms it handles 600 cause there r alot of ppl on this forum pushing 2 of em (4ohms version) with either a orion/kicker 1200 amp & no problems .
The JBL GTO1201.1 is known 2 be better than the Hif amp - so either use what u got or sell it on this forum cause a few of those have sold here & ppl will buy it .......

yeah...i was just looking for the best way to get the most out of my amp and subs.

that JBL looks tempting though..i might look into that if i have chosen the wrong amp for this situation.

Thanks.
