my friend is gonna sell me his capacitor i already have a ho alternator but is it necessary to charge the cap again if we take it off and then dont install it for like two or three days.
You need to discharge it with a high impedance resistor, and recharge it once you install it. Safety reasons, you don't want a capacitor lighting you up.
alright one more question jonathan whats a high impendance resistor i tried googling it but no results. is there a website were it shows you how to duscharge it. but do i really need to recharge it again if i leave it sitting for like 3 days. thanks
There have been people that died from a 9V battery (VERY rare, as in current flowing through open skin, but it's happened). So yeah, a 12V cap can do some damage. Aside from that, it's actually amps that kill, not volts.
dude...it dont even take an amp 2 kill u...and also it dosent matter the volts as jonathan said...its amps that kill u(thanx 2 my dad and myth busters)
ya caps are prob the worst to get shocked by becasue it releaes all the energy it has stored in a instant it would be worse then sticking ur tongue on a plug in ur house depending on the size cap
