I'm interested in getting one 12 to start off my first real sound system.. I think i have narrowed it down to:
1. An alpine type R 12"(300RMS/1000Peak, 4ohm + 4ohm dual voice coils)hooked to an alpine amp, 300 rms i think.
2. A Rockford Fosgate HX2 12"(500RMS/1000Peak) hooked to a kenwood 7201 460w bridged, 800 peak amp

first of all, are there any problems with either of those setups? Which would be better, and are there any changes you would make? In other words, please help me, cause I do not know much about car audio..thank you.

I would go with the alpine because it will put out clean, loud bass. Put the alpine sub in a sealed box. You should get good results with this setup.

i agree go with the alpine if you want good clean bass, the rockford will be louder, but wont sound near as good. as far as the setups they both will work, but i'm not sure of the ohms on the kenwood but as long as it is a 4ohm stable amp you'll be okay.
