I picked up 2 12" DVC Alpine Type R subs for pretty cheap on ebay and now I'm needing an amp.

Mono or 2 channel???

And what kinda wattage do I need to be pumpin'?

One more thing, any ported box plans? I got the MDF and I could put it together pretty easily

Either will work. Are they the new models or old?
Old are 300 RMS and new are 500.

get a orion 1200d or the kicker kx1200.1 for those subs. but they need to be the 4ohm subs not the 2ohm.

So I'm looking at amps and I'm guessing that I should be looking for a mono amp that has an RMS rating of 1000W... And what else do I look for in the amp to match up with these 2 subs I have?

Any suggestions?

You could go with a 2ch(500wrms/ch) into 2 ohms

I kinda want to stick with Alpine. Maybe the MDR-1005. It is a mono amp with 1000 W RMS. I can get for about $300.

Or an Orion 1200D with 1200 W RMS x 1 Ohm for about $240.

I'm not very familiar with Orion and the price isn't the biggest concern. I just want the better amp that will achieve the greatest output from my subs...and if both are great then the cheaper one will work haha.

The MRD-M1005 is only stable down to 2 ohms. With your DVC 4 ohm subs, you need an amp stable at 1 ohm. Look at the Orion 1200D and the Kicker KX1200.1 mentioned before. Also look at JBL, Viper, Elemental Designs, Directed, etc. for good amps.

If you want to spend a little more, look at the higher-tier amps like JL, Zapco, etc. that will give you the 1000w RMS at 4 ohms.

depend what box u have them in...
if u have them in like a q logic or best buy box or something, u can get a kicker 1200.1 orion 1200.1 viper 1200.1
or if u have them in a big @$$ ported for like TCAB u can should use a orion 2500.1 or viper 2500.1

Why would he need a 2500w RMS amp for two 500w RMS subs?

He doesn't really need anything bigger than a 1200w RMS amp. The 2500.1 amps are major overkill for those two subs.

jack prolly was thinking about running the subs @ 40hms with that 2500d amp but that will make no audible sense & spending that amt of $ = no sense . Unless u intend 2 get more power ful subs in the future .

wire your subs into 1 ohm & Orion 1200D will power them fine ........

it depends on your box.
a type R in a TCAB box will handle 1200 w fine
Mark from TCAB has done many testing with the type Rs and designed many boxes for them.
orion 1200d will be plenty for them, but they will take 2500 fine. check out www.thecaraudiobox.com, alot good videos and such
