i am going to be powering 1 idmax sub with a jl audio 1000/1. should i get the 4ohm sub to make it 2ohm load for the amp or should i get the 2ohm sub to make it a 4ohm load for the amp.
as you know the amp is 1000wrms at 1.5ohms to 4ohms.

i was thinking doing it at 4ohms so the amp would run cooler.

the amp doesn't struggle to produce the rated power at any load 1.5-4.
it will be equally stable at 2ohms as it is at 4. it's still producing the same power.

thats exactly what i thought cause it was designed for that purpose - but i was wondering if it would pull more current producing power @ 4ohms cause normally amps working @ a higher ohms do draw more current ......

it is a regulated power supply so it draws the same amount of current at 4 ohms as it does at 2 ohms. or 1.5 ohms.
