RMS Power Output (Watts x Channels)500 x 2

does it mean that it will put out 500 watts to 2 speakers =ing 1000watts total output

or does it mean that it will take the 500 watts and split it into 2 which will be 250 each

have always wondered this but just now asking now that im looking at subs, and the 2x500 is just an example

500x2 means 1000wrms total , each sub on each channel (if its a 2chan amp) getting 500

if its a MONO amp doing 1000wrms ,same deal , its cut in 1/2 if its 2 subs , total cut in 4 if its 4 subs
.....

No - either 1 of them will .

both are designed for different applications but mono is used most commonly for subs since they are more efficient ....

a kicker 2500.1 would power those two subs up nicely. you'll also have a little headroom but the re sx can handle a little more power than what they are rated for.
