Went to autozone because my batteries blue light (for ok) wasn't on. It is a stock battery in a 2002 Mit. Lancer so it was getting old. They tested it and said it was a bad battery and said that is why your battery isn't stabalizing the cars voltage. I think I am going to get an Optima Red Top. Would that work pretty well?
i don't think the red top is a deep cycle. if your pulling lots of amperage a deep cycle will be better since it can be drained and recharged more then a normal battery. so if i remember correctly and the red top isn't a deep cycle, you'll be in the same place a couple months from now with a bad battery.
yellow tops are deep cycle, and are more hesitant to give up power, so therefore, they will have fewer "starts" than a red top, that is designed to give up power quickly to start a car.
if you will be listening to the car alot with the engine off, then get a yellow top. otherwise stick with red.
i have a 2003 Lancer and asked the same question a few weeks ago.
