Okay, so you hear everyone say that the alpine type r's are amazing subs for the price and you see that a lot of people are buying them.But the main question i want answered is,
ARe people just buying these for high spl, or do these subs also have good sound quality?

They have high spl, but they're more of a sq sub. There's subs with higher spl for the money, but without the sq. Type R's are a really good balance of both.

I would take SE's for sq over Type R's

cool, well i guess i will buy one then.
one more question, i found a kicker 400.1 on ebay for 135$. normally they are around 240$.
so would this be an okay sub to power the amp.

(im low on dough :-( )

should since kicker amps are underrated so u might get about 425-450 guesstimated wrms ....

but would there be a huge difference in sound quality or loundness if i powered it all the way to 500 rms (with a diffent amp) or would it just be a a slight increase?
