probably the same way you hear the big windmill generators making a low tone woosh sound in the air.

all it is, its pushing the air in a different manor than traditional speakers. i'm guessing its real expensive cause there's probably extensive technology and research to get good acurate clear sound out of a fan.

thats basically the same thing as a pheonix gold cyclon...it just moves the air in such a was as to create sound waves.

from what i understand, a "sub" like that is only good for frequencies up to ~50hz. they just move alot of air.

It vibrates the air. Just picture the fins on the fan part doing the same thing as the cone on a sub. That's all speakers do really, and that's all a sound wave is as well - molecules vibrating and bumping into eachother. The frequency played through the sub is how many cycles per second the cone vibrates.

haha i disagree joe i think that fan or "subwoofer" is way dummer I think it is a joke who would waste money on thst crap and dint somebody post this like two times already.

If it does work it looks like the bass would be constant as the fans would always rotate. Hitting different notes in sequence would look impossible for that thing......not for music if its true...which I higly doubt
