Interchangeable ports

Two questions -

do you want each port to displace the same amound of air? or does it matter if you calculate the port tuning by net volume? it shouldn't right? (the spl port would be make the net volume be larger than the SQ port)

second : how do you go about attaching each port to the box. I understand how to make each port and and all that, but I don't understand how people attach it to the box. Do they just scre it in to the MDF. this seems like it would not be good after a couple swaps.! also, would you use weather stripping to ensure each port seeled to the box?

yea...each port would change the net volume of the box, you have to account for that when designing the box.

(ex: my box w/ 31hz port in is ~4.5cuft...and ~5.5cuft w/ the 46hz port in)

like you said above, i use weather stripping so seal the ports.

to bolt the ports into the box, you just have to drill holes and hammer t-nuts in the boxes baffle. then you build "port-baffles" that at identical (all the bolt holes have to match.)
