200 amp alt. enough for 6000 watts?

Is a 200 amp alt. enough for about 5000 to 6000 watts if it is not played to the max all of the time?

there is a formular on www.bcae1.com to caculate that but i seriously doubt a 200 A alt can handle that load even @ low volume .....

Yeah not even close. My system is at about 4000 RMS, and I had to upgrade to multiple batteries. The alternator will be good enough to mostly recharge the batteries during the off-peak times, but even at full charge, when you're really thumpin, expect to see it drop to 12v.
