IMO, take the SX.

Think about it this way:
You meet some friends and they all have car subs.
How many do you think will have the SX?
How many would have the R's that BestBuy recommends to eveyone?

More than likely none of your friends will have even heard of RE. I consider that a 'good' thing.

ohh and the Sx can handle more power : )

If you can get adequate power to the SX it will blow the Type R OUT OF THE WATER in SPL... In SQ though, the R might have the upper hand even though the SX doesn't have horrible SQ.

Guy who said the R will take the Sx must be high !

A 12" R = 500wrms while a 12" SX = 1000wrms so thats an unfair fight .

Even a 15" R which is = 750wrms could not step up .....

Actually, I think you'd be suprised.

"If you can get adequate power to the SX it will blow the Type R OUT OF THE WATER in SPL... In SQ though, the R might have the upper hand even though the SX doesn't have horrible SQ."

Again, suprise suprise...

he did burps...not continuous...he also didn't try to strap the amps to the SX so he has some inconsistencies in his test.

There was a guy at a local show I went to running 2 10" type r's, ported box I think just under 2 cubes in the back of some small hatch back (foreign somethin or other, about the size of a daytona). He had 2 boss rt2500ds and was hitting 142.something. There was another guy there with 2 of the newer type rs (10s still) in a grand am who folded the seats down, sealed off the trunk, used something like 4 aeroports and hit 144.something. Impressive for a cheap sub. And both of these cars were in street a in db drag, mic on the dash (well, mid windsheild, passenger side).

What isn't consistent about burps? Yes he did try strapping the amps for the SeXXX and SX..they simply couldn't handle the power.

What score don't you believe?

Scott, in about 10 days i can give u the results of a first hand test between the 2 subs you mentioned. My friend has Type R's, and I just purchased a SX15. I will put money down that my SX15 will have the same if not more SPL than his 2 12" type R's. Once I get my sh!t hooked up we are both going to meter our systems, on the dash, windows down.....
