I have found a cheap 13W7 and dont want to have to buy a jl 1000/1. Can anyone recommend a cheaper amp that will work with the 1.5 ohm coils?

yep - take a look here on this 1 site

Of course Jl is better built but PG is more economically priced

Is the X1200.1 too much? Or will it be okay? Should I just go with the X600.1? I figure if I'm running a W7 though, I might as well go big or go home... I think 1200 may be just a little much for a single cab truck heh...

demon,

"I think 1200 may be just a little much for a single cab truck heh..."

ummmm....just exactly how are you gonna get a 13w7 to fit in a single cab truck???

oh, and by the way...1200wrms would be just fine on a 13w7.

A guy here posted last wk or wk b4 that he's using that 1200.1 on his 13w7 & he said it slams - so i'd also pick that cause even its 1200wrms your amp will be running cool due to headroom .

google that amp's model no. for the lowest price online

Shouldn't be a problem... Should it?

I had thought of placing it where the center console should be, facing towards the windshield and slanted up.

I slam the hell out of my 13W7 with the 1200.1 Xenon. :-) It can handle it. It lists 1200 watts as "Yellow" on JL's specs, which is pretty much optimal. it dosnt go red until 1500 RMs.

Personally - I actually like the sound of the PG Xenon 1200.1 over the JL 1000.1, and also, the xenon is stable at 1-4 ohms, unlike JL, which is 1.5-4 ohms.

The xenon also seemed louder, without a noticeable difference in SQ. :-)

what you also need to factor in is if this is going to be in a small sealed enclosure, which I am figuring it will be the power handling is increased as well so it should be just fine.

only way to run a 13w7 is with the Voice Coils seriesed as they are duel 1.5 ohm coils. what you could do is look on Ebay for a MTX 1501D! i just hooked it up to a set of 12w7's and it Beat hard! and you should be able to find it for a decent price!!
