You will need 2 of those to power it correctly!

Would it do damage to the sub? If I were to run it off one amp?

only if the amp was severly clipping the signal to the sub. but even then, the VC is rated to handle 5000wRMS, so it might not even phase it.

i think the DC square wave is 1.7 times the RMS wattage of an AC sine wave, so that's like 4200wRMS. you should be okay.

"The RMS voltage of a pure square wave it equal to the peak voltage. For 2 waveforms with equal amplitude, the RMS voltage of the square wave is 1.414 times the voltage of the sine wave."
from www.bcae1.com

nope i was wrong, i confused getting RMS from Peak wattage. and i used watts instead of volts.:-)

So, It doesn't hurt a sub if you run half of the rms power to it? What do you think of the solo x 18?

it doesn't hurt the sub if you ran 5 watts to it.

but what happens most of the time is when someone runs an amp that doesn't have enough power for the sub, they end up turning it up too loud, and the amp can't make anymore power, so it clips the signal to try and compensate for the lack of power, thus damaging the subwoofer.

but if the clipped signal doesn't contain enough voltage to heat up the VC's past their thermal limit, then you will not harm them. but i think that that KX 2500.1 sending a fully clipped signal to that Solo-X will harm it.

hope that helps.
