4 8s or 2 10s

I can fit 4 8s sealed or 2 10s ported. What would play louder? Have more "punch"? I can supply 1000RMS into 2 ohms or 700RMS into 4 ohms.

Thanks,

Actually I have the 8s but I am not satisfied.

Now there's a guy that know's his specs. I like the power into a 4 ohm load. I also like the amp link feather with Alpine HUs. Who is DD?

Looking for more SQ than SPL. I just don't think I get the output I should from 4 8s and 700 watts. I used to get the same volume levels with one ported 10 and a lot less power.

I average 115-120 dbs with my 3 sealed 8w6s but if you get 2 really really good 10s and power the right then I would say you are set.

I'll spend up to $750 for the subs and a box if I have to, I just don't know if I am expecting too much or not. I have 4 8s currently in a sealed enclosure and I have great SQ but, the output just isn't there. I have tried several amps with little noticible differenct. Now I am considering different 8s or maybe 2 10s. My problem is that I have limited space. To fit 10s that face forward is very difficult because I only have 9.5" of mounting space at best. If I fire them up or down, I am limited to about 6" in depth. I I think I'd loose SQ shooting right into a seat or the floor. I cuurently have the 4 8s firing forward. Being a truck, the wave is not traveling very far before reaching me.

All other factors the same, could I really expect to hear that much difference by replacing the 4 Polk Momo 8s with say some JL w6 s???

Well they don't make the 8w6s anymore now you can only goto the 8w7 or the 8w3v2. With your budget though you would have to go with the 8w3v2.

Ok, same question then. Would I notice that much of a difference using the w3s?

Checking back on the majority of 10" subs ,their heights are only like 5-6" tall . Are u sure 2 10s or even 4 10s wouldn't fit ?

I don't have the air space for 4. I have about 1.2 cubes per side. I don't have the face to fire them forward or back, only up or down. The 10's that I looked at were deeper that 6". I'm not to crazy about rattling my seat or floor eiter.

Have you heard of JL 10W7 in a HO box? It might solve all your problem.
It is loud and gives excellent SQ for 500w - 600w.
Before you diss the rms power numbers, hear one in person.

I am totally confused how you could only go with 2 10's when you have enough room for 4 8's. With that many 8's i would have to say that you should be able to put 3-4 10's in there instead. If you cant go ported then go sealed.

Rovin - I know looks aren't everything but they look a little, well feeble.

Ultimate - As I stated before, I have air space but not the physical mounting area.
