scratching sound when you push it in....not moving when you turn on the radio.

sounds like a fried voice coil. (its prolly dead)

take the speaker wires off your amp and touch them to the terminals on double-A battery...if the sub doesnt move any at all, you have a dead sub on your hands.

Go a head. A AA battery is 1.5 volts, just barely enough to make your sub move. There's no way it'd hurt it.

just tap the wires to the AA-batts terminals...dont hold them there.

Even if you hold them there. 1.5 volts isn't going to build up enough heat to harm anything.

but i'm making sure he will be really safe :-)

(you never know when someone might get the bright idea to hook their sub up to a 12V batt...lmao)

There is a frequency.... all electrical current has a frequency. Your wall outlets are 60 hz. The AA battery just produces a popping/tapping sound.

the sub will just jump out (if in phase) or in (if out of phase).

yeah it rises. that was amazing lol... my dad was astonished lol. it moved like a whole 5 mm or more... i guess thats because avalanches have a really loose suspension. and yeah i noticed 2 things... one it only moves up;.... and 2 it rises it doesnt pop up like as if it was run on an amp. so it cant produce sound with the slow movement and it doesnt go up and down either just up lol.

so now i have a question. if the battery current makes it go up. what makes it go down?

yea i seen that plug in the wall thing on "unique whips" on speed tv they plugged in 2 perfectly good subs still in a custom box and nice they were replaced with jl audio subs in the other vehicls. it made bass that way tho but it wasnt a pop like an amp either. that unique whipes show is really sweet to watch they put the sweetest systems in top of the line vehicles. and they show the guys making all the things they put in the vehicles.
